Idukki District [ഇടുക്കി ജില്ല / இடுக்கி மாவட்டம்], is the second largest district of Kerala. It's total area is 5,105.22 Sq.Km. Headquarters of the district is Kuyilimala near Painavu.

Idukki district [ഇടുക്കി ജില്ല] was formed on 26th January 1972. District is bounded on south by Pathanamthitta District [പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ല], in south-west by Kottayam District [കോട്ടയം ജില്ല], in north by Thrissur District [തൃശ്ശൂര്‍ ജില്ല], in north-west by Ernakulam District [എറണാകുളം ജില്ല] and in east by Tamil nadu's Coimbatore District, Dindigul District and Theni District
